Hosting Fat Talk Free Events

Information about hosting your own Fat Talk Free event

Hosting your own Fat Talk Free event is a great way to take part in this campaign.

Raising awareness about fat talk is a step we can all take to reject the thin-ideal in our daily lives.  We do this so that all women can embrace the healthy ideal, one that comes in many shapes and sizes.

What is a Fat Talk Free event?  It’s any initiative, event or display that     1) educates about the dangers of Fat Talk and 2) actively challenges the power and influence we give Fat Talk in our lives.  Create your own event or use one of our examples for help.

Why host a Fat Talk Free event?  Fat Talk Free events are a simple way to start changing the conversation about the female body.  We encourage people to view Fat Talk Free events as an important first step, but not as a prevention program.

Who can host a Fat Talk Free event?  We encourage anyone, anywhere to take action by recognizing the prevalent use of fat talk in our everyday language and taking action to stop it.  If you or your organization would like to host an official Fat Talk Free event, let us know, so we can add our to our calendar.  Keep in mind that many of our event ideas are targeted to the collegiate campus due to the nature of our program but all can be adapted to fit your needs.

Fat Talk Free is a registered trademark of The Center for Living, Learning and Leading, Inc.  We’ve done that to protect the message and integrity of Fat Talk Free events, the Reflections: Body Image Program, and organizations (like yours) that are committed to this issue.
